The Uncageable Christ

You can’t cage Christ.

You can’t cage Him in a political party

You can’t cage Him in a denomination,

You can’t cage Him in race.

People have tried from the beginning

To show Him His boundaries.

But as the wind blows where it wills

With no regard for human vanities,

Schemes and prejudices –

So the Spirit of Christ

Will go where It wills.

‘Christ belongs to Jews’

His Spirit falls on the Gentiles.

‘Christ belongs to Israel’

He calls all nations.

‘Christ belongs to the righteous’

He sits down

with sinners.

‘Christ belongs to the Catholics… the Protestants…

the Baptists… the Reformed…’

He belongs to no one.

And He won’t be told where He can’t go.

What He calls clean

No one can make unclean.

What he calls loved

No one can make rejected.

Where hearts search for Him

And desire Him

There you will find Him.

Whether we think He belongs there

Or not.
